Twin Boys and Carma
For the past several months, various friends (especially the ones we helped get pregnant) and coworkers have warned us that we are destined to be referred twin boys, likely red-haired and bad tempered babies as well. These comments don't seem like heart-felt warm and fuzzy wishes but rather an expectation that naughty twin boys are what we deserve. To be fair, our little fertility clinic angel seems to bestow upon us more than our share of twins, and lots of our patients think its going to be a stellar idea until they get to about 4 months of pregnancy and their bladders stop behaving normally, but they did ask for it! We didn't...the twin thing I mean.
Now having a little son referred to us is an idea I could warm up to. Lil has been such a Daddy's girl, it would be nice to have a Momma's boy... and it would prevent Tony from getting totally suffocated by girls every time he walks in the front door. ...not that he seems to mind all that estrogen. Given recent information that the last group was referred a number of boys, and one of our pregnant ladies told me today that we are having a boy, we think we need to start considering the possibility. However, when I asked Lil if having a little brother would be ok, she said "no thank you", end of discussion.
Then there's the name thing...naming him Grace may cause some concerns, so we'd name him Anthony Jack...Anthony for his Dad and Jack Jack from the Incredibles...because I am absolutely sure this kid would be busier than a barrel full of monkeys. We considered Jack Anthony but that would leave our little oriental son with rather unfortunate initials. So we'll name him Anthony but call him Jack. Clear as mud?
There are lots of positives to this boy concept. I could toss all those cute girlie clothes that Lil has grown out of and start shopping again. And Daddy would have to do the bathroom runs when we're out at restaurants and all of the potty training. Yes, this is an idea I could really warm up to.
So for all you who think the referral of a son would send me straight to the Prozac bottle, consider this: a penis is not a birth defect. There are many redeemable traits found on the Y chromosome and I would make it my mission to modify every one of them.
This is all a moot point of course, because China is so afraid of the Swine flu that they won't send referrals just in case they might catch the sniffles from the germy Canadians. But stay posted, eventually they'll figure out that natural immunity is their friend, and we'll get that long awaited phone call: congratulations, it's a ?

Too funny! I on the other hand have done alot of shopping for Ava and I am sure if we were referred a boy he would not like to wear all of the pink dresses...lol. Name thing would be another thing...I would love to name a boy Henry after my grandfather and call him Harry(as my grandfather was)
At this point I will take any news boy or girl just give me my friggin referral!
