Hunting for Eggs

We spend most of our work lives hunting for eggs, but today they were chocolate filled and required little more than an enthusiastic 5 year old to find them. We went to a friend's home today on the premise of an easter egg hunt and ended up consuming about 5000 calories in brunch and Easter treats. We returned home at 3, took a Zantac, had an hour nap (because we really couldn't move) and then ate another 5000 calories again this evening. That will be another 3 months of cabbage soup for us to get back into the same clothes we put on this morning...but oh was it a lot of fun.
Lil is attending a RC school and has come home with lots of religious drawings and information about how Jesus wasn't getting on with his mates, so they nailed him to a cross and all of those bad decisions that happen when people don't communicate well. It's always a little difficult to connect the fun part of these celebrations with the religious meaning but we noticed that the rock she drew in front of Jesus' tomb looked quite a lot like a big chocolate egg...she's putting it together in her own way. She does make us say grace before meals now, ...and considering her father is a former Methodist, but mostly a non-believer and her Mom is an excommunicated Catholic (you don't get to work with sperm all day without getting the Pope's shorts in a knot), it pushes us to think about our beliefs and intentions. For now, the take home message seems to be: get on with your friends, don't play with hammers and nails, and if you find yourself stuck in a cave, you can eat your way out. Have a Great Easter...
