Steamed Dumplings

Those of you who were around during Lil's adoption will remember the primal scream day where Lil had a 3 hour session of communicating her displeasure.  Gracie held that event last night when it was time for bed.  Part of the problem was that she started having a whole lot of fun yesterday, so when bedtime came, it was shock and awe time.  Lil put her earplugs in and went to bed.  We decanted a nice bottle of red wine and sat it out in the dark.  She of course awoke this morning all smiles but the rest of us were pretty weary and a little hung over.
As beautiful as Nanning is, it is like living in a hot yoga class 24/7.  Today the temp was around 35 degrees Celcius with the humidex at 48 degrees.  We went for a walk in the People's Park - which is positively amazing - but were wet rags by the time we made it home.  The designers of this park have a funny sense of humour, for the end of the walk is a series of stepping stones in the water that you have to negotiate to get to the exit.  Try doing that with a stroller.
So we elected to try to keep the kids entertained in the hotel room this afternoon with tickle fests and pretend Kung Fu.  No fractures were suffered although our mantra on this trip has been "its all fun and games until someone pokes an eye out" - related more to adult behaviour than the kids.
Grace is coming into her own with lots of laughs, tearing around and throwing everything she can find...noodles, blocks etc.  We enjoyed our last dinner in the hotel restaurant tonight knowing that we were leaving tomorrow and didn't have to suffer not being invited back.  Grace is a girl that a team of schnauzers and my Dyson will be constantly cleaning up after.
Tomorrow we fly to Beijing to begin the last leg of our journey...lets hope that the airplane gods are happier this week.

It sounds like those garden designers are waiting to see who jumps IN the water on the way out! Your pictures are continuing to amaze and please, us AND everyone else on my e-mail list! The two girls look like they are bonding nicely. I loved the comment you made about Lil just putting her ear plugs in and going to sleep. Very wise little girl! I know I have said it once or twice already, but I can't wait to squeeze you all again, especially Lily and Grace.

Scott got what I want from Nanning, right? nod, nod, wink, wink...
