Fresh Obsessed
Today we travelled to a village outside of Nanning to experience a typical morning in an agricultural community. The community was self contained, providing almost every service required by its inhabitants. It was surrounded by beautiful mountains, rice paddies and terraced gardens.
The food market had all of the departments you would find around the outside rim of your local A&P: fruit, veggies, fish, meat, duck soup, live ducks watching soup being made, pigs and chickens. Further down the road, women and girls were washing the clothes on the rocks of the local waterway. Kids ran through the streets playing together happily. Many of the group commented on how happy they all looked despite having so little. I suspect they looked at us and wondered why we looked so stressed while having so much.
Grace is making progress starting to laugh, walk and throw toys for us to pick up. She continues to be an eating machine but has slowed the pace a bit. She and Lil are bonding through play although she does throw Lil some dirty looks as if to say "would you knock it off, you're going to get us in trouble".
Tomorrow we start to get our citizenship paperwork completed for the Canadian Embassy prior to our travel back to Beijing on Saturday. One step closer to home.
