I'm the Big Sister!!!
When Tony got home from work yesterday, we opened our referral file together, did the dance of joy, printed off the photos of Grace and then headed to Lil's nursery school to introduce her to her Mei Mei.
For as long as Lil has been able to talk, she has asked for a little sister and pointed at airplanes in the sky and said "Is that airplane going to get Gracie?" Every month when the baby photos were posted on RQ we would admire them and she would say: "is that what Gracie is going to look like?" However, the four year wait had dampened her resolve somewhat and a while back we just stopped talking about it. But whenever Tony and I thought of giving up, we felt terrible about letting Lil down.
So when the phone started ringing off the hook this week, she thought it was because she was starting soccer on Saturday and everyone was just so excited about it (which of course, we are). Plus, we have a bird's nest with new babies on our house and a batch of kittens next door, so life is just too exciting for the junior partner right now.
So when Tony and I showed up at the school with a "I'm a Big Sister t-shirt" and a photo of the competition, she was a little shocked. First of all she asked "Is that what Gracie is going to look like" and then she asked if we could go out for Chinese Food. Like most things in life, Lil just takes it all in stride. But the wheels are turning and I just know the next question is going to be: "SO WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET JACK JACK?"

You know, it's been such a blur for days, that I've been lightheaded rather than teary. Until I read this post. Will you tell Lil I'm sending her a big hug and looking forward to meeting her?
Your wait is almost over. I pray for a speedy TA. We only waited 16 long months. I can't imagine how a little girl waited over 3 years. I must have seems surreal. Now she will experience the blessing of seeing her sister become a part of your family like she came into it. Congratulations. An RQ member.
What a stunning little beauty! Congratulations on your referral, we were so pleased to hear it was finally Lily's turn to be a big sister.
Blessings,
