Junior Witches
With Grace mastering the letter "W", we thought it safe for her to dress as a witch for Halloween this year. A high glycemic index time was had by all until Mom couldn't stand the hyperactivity any more and snuck the stash out to a local dentist who ships it to the troops. Good thing they still have a short attention span.
Grace has shifted her attention to the impending arrival of the fat guy in the red suit. Santa's bringing me FIVE pet shops she whispered as she gazed in wonder at the Xmas decor in the Walmart.
"I don't know about five, but if you put it on your wish list, he probably will bring you one pet shop." I reassured.
"I want a dog" demands Grace.
"You have two dogs already"
"One that doesn't bite my pants"
"Maybe you will get five pet shops from Santa" I retreat remembering my own negotiation style
"She is her mother's daughter" Tony tells me constantly, and this week when I heard an echo I was convinced. Grace began starting her inquiries with "What the heck?" At first I wondered how she learned this from her Aunti Anne who lives in Wisconsin and then realized it was a phrase I used commonly as well. In my defence I have really cleaned up my language since having kids in the house, even dropping my beloved curse involving the reproductive habits of water fowl. "What the heck" was one that slipped under the radar. Could be worse.
Lil's Xmas list extended the length of the fridge but once convinced that Santa didn't look past item six, she's trimmed the demands to one that is respectful of Santa's budget. She's continuing to adapt to a non-Catholic earth science focused school and in typical Lily style blends it all together. A science assignment this week was to draw a picture of what the world looked like before man arrived on the planet. There were lots of trees, rocks, animals, a church and a house.
"Who builds houses Lil?" I questioned
"Towsley construction" she replied
"Was Towsley construction around before people were on earth?
"No Mom, it's God's house and church" she explained patiently
No response from the teacher yet but I see a "C" in science on the horizon.
