Home Alone
It was our intention to spend last week in England visiting Tony's family but given the flight delays due to the volcanic ash and my excellent travel carma we decided to cancel and have a "staycation." For the sake of the children (no snide remarks please) we decided to keep the junior partners on their regular school/daycare schedule and just have some quality couple time.
Ok we did pop into the clinic each morning to do a few ultrasounds but for the most part we were totally irresponsible. We golfed, ate tons of carbs, visited some new restaurants, planned to remodel the house, dug in the garden, walked the dogs, had afternoon tea on the front porch and had a great week of reminding ourselves why we are married to each other. This is sounding like a Cialis commercial isn't it?
No suitcases, no overtired kids, no post airplane viral infections; it was pretty much the best holiday we've had in a long time. And that front porch we told the builder we never used...we discovered that when we are home, we really like sitting on the porch. So stop the bulldozer.
Once back at work we discovered that it was a lot easier to slow down than speed up again. But it did remind us of the pleasures we miss out on when we fail to stop and smell the roses and so I've put it on my must do list.
