Oops I did it again....

This week I celebrated my 25th birthday for the 30th time.

Lil chose a lovely fruit flan for the birthday celebration, and then presented me with a much anticipated gift of a metal cow with a head tremor. Tony shrugged and said "it's what she liked" and I decided it was best not to probe why my child gave me a mad cow for my birthday. He made up for it with something shiny in a small box.

Gracie suggested applying the fruit flan directly to my face to camouflage the wrinkles. I prefer the systemic approach of ingesting enough of it that my wrinkles fill in with fat cells.

Annie called and congratulated me as I am now eligible for free seniors coffee at McDonalds when I am ordering Happy Meals for the kids. So after these not so subtle hints, I decided that perhaps I am ready for assisted living.

So I hired a cleaning lady.

Now I have had cleaning ladies in the past, and the house looks great for 15 minutes. But with two kids, three dogs and a husband who comes home with placenta on his shoes, the house needs a full time cleaning person and I have come to accept that I am it. However, I hired this cleaning crew to do the DEEP CLEANING once a month...you know...all the little nooks and crannies that grow horrible fluffy cultures that I discover once a year...they are going to clean that stuff. And they are going to clean the office too, so that's one more job off my resume.

I am hiring a pool company this year to take care of all pool related needs. We put the pool in when we bought our house 15 years ago and we spend much more time maintaining it than we do swimming in it. I long for the day when I can fill it with compost and grow tomatoes in it. However, the kids love it and I want to love it, so somebody else can do the work to keep it from turning into green slime.

It may be a little premature for me to have my meals in bed, but BK (before kids) my dear man used to bring me breakfast in bed each morning. This has gone by the wayside as the needs of the toddlers have taken priority, but lately I have been feigning sleep until I hear the coffee being poured. And the sight of my DH tiptoeing in with a cuppa at 6:30 am is a luxury that it took having kids to appreciate.
